The PERFECT birthday present

We celebrated my 26th birthday with family and friends (really our fantasy football league) on Sunday September 11th....which was the season opener for our Indianapolis Colts. Ummm....I don't think I need to remind anyone of the results. However, it was still a great day because our little boy already gave us the best birthday present a mom could ask for...

Earlier that day, we were sitting in church. Up to this point, I was the only one who had been able to feel the baby move. However, sitting there in church I think he was moved by the Holy Spirit or something because all of a sudden he started kicking really hard- not just a flutter. So I quickly grabbed Ryan's hand and placed it on my belly where I was feeling the kicks. And there on my birthday, Daddy was able to feel his son move for the first time!

Really I didn't feel another kick like that for another two weeks- so I know that was his birthday present for me. Now creeping up on 23 weeks, he is never shy. I get kicked all the time...to the point where sometimes I jump. He is so active. There is no question that he is going to be an athlete!

Here are some belly pics from 22 weeks. He's measuring great and well I'm growing too...

These past few weeks have been my best yet during this entire pregnancy. I feel better, I feel like I look better (partially due to the miracle of self-tanner) and I truly have been feeling so joyous about the baby, life and my career. Things really are looking up in the Robinson household. I really could not have done any of this though without Ryan. His love and support through this entire journey have exceeded my greatest expectations. I have no doubt that our son is going to grow up to be such a wonderful man because of the influence of his Daddy.

The Big Reveal

The pictures and video speak for themselves so I don't have to explain very much. This was taken right after we found out we were having a boy. I didn't want to tell my parents the news over the phone, so we met them at Tucker office. This was the result...

Kara was teaching at school at the time. But that was her on the phone so she could be in the moment with us!  Here are some pictures from the big reveal!

Probably one of the most treasured memories from this day is that my Grandma Vargas got to be there with us when we told my parents. Believe or not she had predicted that it was a boy the whole time despite her reputation of always getting it wrong. I guess Grandma and I really do share the same spirit about us.

Oh Boy!

September 7 had finally arrived. Our appointment for our 20 week anatomy scan was at 1:15. Ryan met me at the doctor's office. We were both full of excitement and anticipation. He told me he was nervous. I told him I knew the baby was fine because I had felt it doing back flips all day. He said he was just nervous about finding out. His nerves were definitely warranted because this was such a huge deal. It seemed like forever before the Ultrasound Tech called us back. When she finally got us set up, she started from the head and worked her way down explaining to us what we were looking at. Here is the video:

He was very active during the scan. Moving his arms and legs but holding still for pictures...already a ham- definitely my child. Finally after getting great shots of his "head, shoulders, knees and toes" she asked us if we wanted to know the gender. Of course!

Neither Ryan or I have any experience in the medical field so we had no idea what we were looking at most the time. When she got to the "parts" she just paused and didn't say anything. Ryan and I were holding hands both looking at the screen then looking at the picture with puzzled looks. Then the tech spoke up and said "well isn't it obvious?" and I saw something, so I guessed, "is it a boy?" and she said, "Are you kidding me? I don't even have to zoom in." Ryan squeezed my hand and put his head down. I think he started crying, but he won't admit that still. We were thrilled!

Finally after we found out we were having a son, she ended the scan by showing us his strong beautiful heart. I believe that is what the video ends on as well.

Here are some of the great shots from the scan:

His mouth is open here. Jake and Drew said he was talking smack!
Immediately after leaving the doctor's office, Ryan and I called our parents. He told his parents over the phone since we wouldn't be able to see them that day and didn't want to keep them waiting. I told my parents to meet us at the office. I think my mom almost had an anxiety attack for making her wait another half hour. The video where we reveal that we were having a boy is priceless...and will be posted soon!

One More Day

Tomorrow is the day we find out if our little one is a boy or a girl. Depending on the results, will determine so much of the rest of our lives. Either way, it doesn't matter. I just want to see our baby healthy. We will be exactly 20 weeks. I can't wait. To our baby, and one more day...

In one more day we find out if you'll be in pink or blue.
In one more day we will know a little more about you.

In one more day I'll know whether to buy football cleats or ballet shoes.
In one more day we'll know which name for you to choose.

In one more day I'll know which one of us you'll dance with on your wedding day.
In one more day it will seem so much more real, at least that's what they say.

In one more day I'll fall even more in love with you.
But in every one more day, this always turns out true.
