My Sweet Baby NIECE

I'm not certain if and when I posted that Briggs is going to be a big cousin! My sweet lovey sister and her Ryan are due in September.

We wanted to throw them a family reveal party. We let them choose how to "reveal" to us. I'm glad her Mexican roots came into play. They bought a pinata and were going to stuff it with either pink or blue candy.

I'm going to be honest here. All of the symtoms she was experiencing were spot on to the symptoms I had when I was pregnant with Briggs. So I was 258% she was having a boy...so to my surprise...

I am having a sweet baby niece!!! I am so in love with her already! We have already decided Briggy is going to be her protector.  By the way having a girl join the family is LETHAL to anyone's monthly clothing budget.

The sweetest parents to be

Briggs is pumped to be a big cousin!

How precious is her little face? I can't wait to buy her tutus and bows! (Even if her mommy doesn't approve)

Dear Baby Girl,

Before we go to bed at night, Briggs and I pray for you to grow big and strong. We pray to give your parents the comfort and wisdom to help raise you in the way of the Lord so that you and Briggs together, can become some of the greatest soldiers of Jesus's Kingdom. May your light and beauty help others to find love and know God. You are such a blessing to our lives already. We cannot wait to meet you!

Love,
Aunt Tita

A "BRIGG" Brother!

Finally catching up on the blog! There is SO much to share! Some news people know and some they don't...so get ready for some post vomit. Haha.

I am backlogging a bit just to help my own personal timeline- so you're not crazy if you're just now reading this "April"post in June. These last few months have been a whirlwind for me work-wise. So getting some free time to update posts have only been a lofty dream until now. I promise to get better!

As most of you know...Briggs has had some pretty awesome news to share:

These were taken on Easter Sunday (notice his bunny shirt) so we could always remember when we told our families.

This time around, telling our families was just as fun. We had to be sneaky since they knew we were thinking about expanding our family around the time Briggs turned 1. So we made a video of Briggs's 12 and 13 month pictures and at the end...surprised them with a few extra clips that revealed that our baby boy was going to be a "BRIGG" brother!

Needless to say, we had a to watch the video a few times because there were so many screams of excitement that a few people missed what the excitement was about in the first few viewings. Haha not mentioning any names, Grandma Diane :)

The Big Brother and "His Baby"

We are so excited and blessed to finally announce we are officially a family of four! Thank you for all the prayers and support!

Ringin' in Spring 2013

This baby loves the fresh air! On the first (and only) day of Spring this year, we took Briggy to Washington Township Park to join the other thousands of children that have been cooped up all winter. I almost forgot how much he loves to swing.

His favorite activity was climbing up and down and up and down the stairs to the slide. He would have been content if we let him do that all day. We are so anxious for more warm weather. In the meantime, I'll try talking Ryan into moving south so we can take part in these outdoor activities year-round. :)

Fun with Photoshop

Adobe Photoshop Lightroom was one of my favorite Christmas presents I received this year. So much possibility! However, I am just now getting to play around with it. I have SO much to learn and have so many ideas but just don't know how to get there quite yet.

I have been watching some of Lightroom's video tutorials, but I still feel overloaded.  Is that the best way to learn though? I wish it came with an instruction manual...ahhh! help!

Here I was playing around with some of the "Cabin Fever" pictures from the other day. Doesn't it make him look like a different boy? My little model baby!

Cabin Fever 2013

Does anyone else have a major case of the winter blues? We are going crazy over here in the Robinson household! We might brave a mini walk if it gets up to 35 degrees...but my goodness! Today is March and I don't see the end in sight! Briggs is ready for the park and Lola is ready for some exercise (our little pup has put on a few winter pounds too)!

So in the meantime, Briggs has come up with a few of his own indoor games. But we are running out of ideas! Spring and sunshine, we are ready for you any day!
Hi Mom! I see you!

No more socks, please.

Get me out of this place!

Briggsy kisses for his baby bear.

Hello in there!

Sleeping Victory

There once was a 12 month old boy who HATED to sleep. He would fight it and fight it until finally his mommy gave in and let him sleep in her bed. This mommy knew that she needed to help her baby fall asleep in his own crib. She could no longer keep up with the nightly routine of rocking him to sleep, gently placing him into the crib, tiptoeing away...only to hear a screaming baby 30 seconds later on his feet ready for her to do it all over again. She even tried to let him cry it out-until he got so mad he made himself throw up. Enough. Enough of this no sleeping...for both of us.

So mommy read books and blogs and couldn't figure out what to do until one day, right after the baby's first year birthday, she gave him a really big hug and gave him a big boy talk. She told him how much she loved him and how proud she was of what a big boy he was growing into- however, the biggest thing he needed to learn now was how to go to sleep on his own. She then gave him a bath, read a him a few bed time stories, gave him his pacifier and laid him in his crib. And......he cried and screamed. And cried and screamed.... for a good hour and half!! He got so tired he was standing with his head falling backwards (thank goodness for video monitors!). He finally crashed and slept for a solid 7 hours. One of his best nights. (Although it was probably one of my most difficult hour and half time periods I have had to hear- nobody likes to hear their baby scream.)

The next night she went through the same routine and he only cried for a half hour. She kept telling herself, "Stay strong, mommy. This is for his own good." The third night it was 10 minutes. By the end of the week, it was literally 30 seconds.

He is 13 months old today, so it has officially been a month. I think it is safe to say, MY BABY CAN FALL ASLEEP AND STAY ASLEEP THROUGH THE NIGHT! This is probably my biggest victory since winning state when I was 12-ha! I'm really not kidding though. I am so proud of my boy, it was honestly such a hard thing for him. But now, after we go through the nighttime routine, he may fuss for A second, but then goes right to sleep! And if he wakes in the middle of the night, I don't go to get him until at least 6:30- any earlier than that, I make him self-soothe again, and he does! What a gem!

I know you may not be able to tell, but on that monitor is a sleeping baby! And this means a peaceful night for mommy and daddy.

He really is growing into such a big boy, but when he sleeps, I still see my little baby.

To all you mommies out there who have had trouble teaching your baby to self-soothe, I'll give you a couple of suggestions that helped us.

  • Make sure baby eats dinner a couple hours before bed.
  • Have a routine. (For us its bath, milk, books, bed)
  • A bottle of milk before bed always helps.
  • We brought a nightlight into the room.
  • Let them cry it out (It is SO difficult-it was more of a scream for Briggs).
  • Give them lots of kisses in the morning when you go to greet them.
  • Stay strong!!!
My baby had been the worst sleeper from 6-12 months. If Briggsy can learn to self-soothe, I know anyone can!

Baby Love

Last week we took a trip to the Florida Keys. It was a much needed break! Plus I think we all needed a little sun. We were fortunate enough to be invited by our good friends, Gary and Kathleen Yohe and their precious baby girl, Lainey.

As you can see, Briggs and Lainey grew quite fond of each other- SO adorable. But I made sure I was still his number one girl. :)
